Fresh Seasonal Dining with South Downs Views

TERRA sits at the heart of Tottington Manor, where the South Downs roll away beyond the hotel and the food takes its cue from the landscape around us. We are a West Sussex restaurant near Henfield, within easy reach of Brighton and Worthing, but the nicest reason to come is simply to settle in, order something delicious and let the countryside do the rest.

The kitchen cooks fresh and follows the seasons. Sussex meat, fish, vegetables, cheeses, drinks and wines appear throughout the menu, alongside carefully chosen ingredients from further afield when they earn their place. The result is food with a sense of where you are — thoughtful enough for a special occasion, relaxed enough for an unplanned lunch.

We stock a wide selection of local Sussex and international wines. Our support of local suppliers extends to our draught and bottled beers, soft drinks and spirits, but you will still find a good selection of national and international brands.

A Restaurant Shaped by Sussex

Open one of our current menus and the first thing you meet is a map of Sussex. That is not decoration. It is a reminder that much of what arrives in the TERRA kitchen has travelled a surprisingly short distance: produce from local farms and growers, fish and seafood from the Sussex coast, bread, butter and cheese from nearby makers, and wines from vineyards scattered across the county.

We buy locally because Sussex gives us brilliant ingredients, not because a postcode makes something good. The seasons are allowed to change the menu, and our chefs build dishes around what is at its best rather than asking the same plate to stay put all year. The TERRA Tasting Menu carries the same idea even more literally: a taste of Sussex, served course by course.

We are rather proud that other people have noticed. TERRA has been recognised in the BRAVO Sussex restaurant awards, received a Good Food Award Gold Seal, appeared in OpenTable's hotel restaurant list and been reviewed by Restaurants Brighton. Those stories matter most because they reflect what guests experience at the table.
