And if you're walking the South Downs Way, Tottington Manor is an ideal overnight stop midway between Amberley and Lewes.
Depending on how much energy you have you could head on a circular walk of just over 7km up to Truleigh Hill, skirting along the southern side of the hills next to Tottington and back through the woods to the hotel. A warning on this, is that the first section is fairly steep, but alao fairly short, so be prepared for 20 minutes of uphill push, but the views are fantastic
