On Saturday 17 October 2026, Tottington Manor will bring the West End into the South Downs for an intimate evening with Dean Chisnall — currently listed by the official Phantom of the Opera production as The Phantom at His Majesty's Theatre.
West End performance without the West End distance
This is deliberately not a theatre-scale concert. The appeal is proximity: a close-up performance in an intimate room, combined with stories and anecdotes from a career spent in major West End and touring productions.
For musical-theatre fans near Brighton, Worthing, Burgess Hill, Horsham and across Sussex, it offers the chance to hear a leading West End performer in a very different environment.
From Jean Valjean to Shrek — and the Phantom
The official Phantom cast biography lists Dean's theatre credits including Jean Valjean in Les Misérables in the West End, on tour and in the staged concert; Shrek in Shrek the Musical at Theatre Royal Drury Lane and on tour; the Narrator in Blood Brothers; Love Never Dies; Evita; La Cage aux Folles and The Woman in White.
London Theatre likewise lists Dean as currently starring as The Phantom in the West End. That range gives the evening plenty of material for both performance and stories from behind the curtain.
Five courses from TERRA Restaurant
The performance is paired with a five-course tasting menu from the TERRA Restaurant team, inspired by seasonal Sussex produce.
Guests arrive from 6:45pm for a welcome Sussex sparkling drink and canapés before the evening develops through food, performance and conversation.
Up close, personal and built for people who love musicals
The format is intentionally conversational. Alongside the songs, Dean will talk about his career and experiences in musical theatre.
That makes the event as interesting for people fascinated by how West End theatre works as it is for those who simply want to hear well-known musical theatre performed live.
Stay after the final note
Guests can make the evening into an overnight South Downs stay in one of Tottington Manor's twelve boutique bedrooms, with breakfast the following morning.
It turns a special performance into a complete night away: Sussex sparkling wine, AA Rosette dining, West End entertainment and no need to travel back into Brighton or further afield late at night.
